ATTENTION: I've decided to put the upgrade on hold due to a compatibility issue of our server environment with the latest CS installer package. CS 2008 now requires SQL Server 2005 as the backend DB but our database server currenlty has SQL Server 2000 installed on it. I'll resume the upgrade once I figure out when Telligent is releasing a patch to the schema compatibility issue. For now, we will continue to use the old version of CS while waiting for the said patch. If you have any questions about this process, please don't hesitate to post them on our forums and I'll answer them as soon as I can. Thanks for your patience and support guys! I'll let you know as soon as this is resolved. - Keith Rull

    AJAX (WEB 2.0)

Hello po, newbie here.. i registered here to promote my site kaya lang as i browse the whole forum, ive noticed there is something missing.. Ive noticed na walang section ang AJAX or the now popular talk of the (geekie, nerdie ot whatever you want to call those computer hugging whiz kids) IT world, WEB 2.0..

lemme assume that no one knows WEB 2.0 first.. WEB 2.0 is the new generation of web sites.. static sites like html as well as dynamic sites like php-mysql, even a flash site is a web 1.0.. why, because everytime you request a new information, the user have to call another page to display them.. WEB 2.0 in contrast, with the use of AJAX (Asynchronous JAvascript + Xml) does that without refreshing the page..

now since this is site is about programming, i think its safe to assume tha at least someone knows what Digg.com or Del.icio.us is..

now this is where i plug my site, the site is http://www.homepagekoto.com its a WEB 2.0 site, and it was built on the principle of taking your bookmarks everywhere you go.. it eliminates the remembering, then painstakingly type, then afterwards spell check the URL of your internet destination, by instead clicking a link.. the whole site is in BETA (trademark of WEB 2.0) and developments are going on so you can edit the whole site and save the links and homepages that suits you and take it anywhere you go.. for example, instead of typing http://community.devpinoy.org/forums/default.aspx then checking if the spelling is correct, if your homepage is http://www.homepagekoto.com all you have to do is click the Resources KoTo Tab and click the DevPinoy Link and you will be diverted to the DevPinoy Forum or any other Internet Destination you want.. of course you can bookmark the DevPinoys site instead in your pc but what if you are just renting and you are using different pc everytime you rent..?

guys, suportahan po nten ang site ko, its google adsense-less, so im not making money out of it, just trying to help pinoys surfers..

    nice site wrencelot! :)

regarding WEB 2.0 and it's lack of category here in Devpinoy.. what happened is that we organized the forums based on Programming Language... since WEB 2.0 is a cross-platoform architechture, the topics that would be discussed on this should be brought to the language level... example... if you want to do talk about AJAX in PHP... you should post it on the PHP section. this makes sure that people who are knowledgeble enough regarding the topic using the specified language could answer it.

Btw, i'll add your site to the DevPinoy list of links section which i would be putting tonight. great job wrencelot!

Web 2.0 is actually not a tool but a technology :)

You can try Anthem.NET.. its an AJAX library for .NET.. or.. ComfortASP.NET.. there's another one called MagicAjax.NET

sir, i tried researching about WEB2.0 and have read some of it but I find it unclear. Does it have something to do about ASP.NET? How about Web design practices?
