About Andre "Cruizer" Cruz

Andre Cruz graduated from DLSU Manila in 1996, ECE. He started programming 1987 when he grade 6 using Sharp pocket computer with 1.2KB of RAM.

He graduated into Apple ][ programming then to the PC world in 1988.He first learned BASIC, then eventually assembler and C, Pascal, C++.

When he was in high school, he joined a programming competition sponsored by the Philippine Computer Society and won first place. He became part of the Phil team to SEARCC and Intl Software Competition (sponsored by Singapore computer board) from 1990 to 1992, with our team winning 3rd place in 1992. He later served as one of the trainers for the Phil team in 1996

He worked for INFOCOM ("sequel.net") where he was the main source for Shanai Twain mp3s and it was there that he got immersed in the Internet. His boss asked him to study Linux and eventually he pushed for its promotion inside INFOCOM kasi takot sa Linux mga tao doon nun time na yon (they were for big-iron UNIX like Solaris and Digital UNIX). it was there where he learned CGI, Perl, shell scripting...

He also taught at the DLSU ECE dept for about three years. He then worked for a web app startup named Intergate after getting bored with the academe. There he used open source stuff most of the time. After almost three years, he went to Equitable PCI Bank and that's where he learned VB, ASP and eventually ASP.NET and C#.

currently he is a Sr. Web Developer with OSRP.
