Presentation Tips and DevPinoy Powerpoint Templates

I'm doing a developer presentation this friday and i've been talking to people who have been doing it for quite sometime now and they have given me some key pointers that i think would be useful to any future presenter. I got some valuable lessons from them and i wish to share them to you guys thru this post so here it goes:

1. Be prepared. Dont just go there with a couple of bullets on your pocket. Read and fully understand your topic since people would expect you to really know what you are talking about.

2. Be aware on the skill level of the people that you would be talking to. You must know where at what background they are coming from because you must realize that you dont talk the same way to all types of people.

3. Be ready to answer questions. Dont be afraid to admit that you dont know the answer to all questions. The best way to escape this kinds of scenario is to offer your time to research about that topic and ask the person who asked that question for their email so that you could send them your answer.

4. Be approachable. Let people that have questions to approach you and ask you for clarifications on your topic. This way you can answer all their inquiries that they were not able to ask while youre session is ongoing since there are people who are shy to ask when alot of people are around.

5. And lastly, Relax and Enjoy! Let them see that you are excited about the talk! After all presentations are not all about beeing a geek but its also about communicating and knowing people!

Whew! thats a ton of pointers! I hope this can help people someday and me too(since i need to remember it too! :)). Anyway, here is a few powerpoint templates that i would be using for my future talks. They can be found here: http://community.devpinoy.org/files/27/default.aspx

Additional, don't forget to inject humour during your presentation not only it is as an excellent ice-breaker but also relaxes your audience thereby getting them to listen to you more. :)

In addition to this... Your personality... like your posture, the way you open your mouth while talking, the movement of your hands. something like that. I believe that this will make a great impact on the audience. Cheers!!! ; )
