keith i think it's a general problem with all pre-release technology stuff. the problem will only get worse with the many stuff out there that's still in pre-release form like Silverlight and ASP.NET MVC. hopefully the owners of the blog would update their posts, or at least mark them with a message saying it's intended for a pre-release version.

Nice post cruizer.

I've been working with WCF since last year and it's been a nice upstream sometimes then downturns the next round but its all worth the ride. It's a great technology and I think the future of distibuted .net apps is going to be wcf(or something else that is closely related to it).

I agree with you that most of the articles on the web are out-of-date. Even the existing books are mostly out-of-date. good thing juval lowy is releasing a new book this month about wcf which is an update to his great wcf book.

I've been itching to write something about wcf the past few months but never had the chance to put my fingers to touch the keys and start writing. Now you've given me motivation to start blogging about it :)

well those commercial .NET components can only be used in ASP.NET Web Forms; they are very likely to be incompatible (or useless!) with the upcoming ASP.NET MVC.

My colleague used to work with commercial .Net components. His license already expired and according to him, he doesn't seem to happy with it. I referred him to JQuery and now he seems to enjoy working with it.

Hi cruizer,

I was wandering around for a short work break when I came across your post.

I say this is good post. It is very informative and stimulating. I agree in your point. I do, however, believe it depends on different occasions.

If you are going to use T-SQL on SQL Server, you can use trigger, functions and etc and implement a functional like code. I'm not sure with other the databases that also uses SQL since I am more familiar with SQLServer.

Now, speaking of SQL Server, if you put in SQL-CLR in the equation, then you can implement a functional language.

As a whole, SQL might not be a functional language but can be implemented in that direction. :)

@LatTtEX was the ELCS build server upgraded? :) I think in our case the main bottleneck is memory...the build server is also running IIS 6
