We all hate spam, so what about chain letters? those pesky mail from anonymous someone who happens to have your mail in their addresses. As far as I can remember, the very first chain letter I got was from a long-distance cousin(i was about 10 yrs old back then). She had 10 photocopies of it and unfortunately enough, i was one of the lucky persons to receive the letter. Here is how the letter goes circa 1993(well, roughly...):
To the concerned reader:
In a recent episode from Phil Donahue's talk show, it was revealed that there are several established their products with the help of Satan. These companies are not thinking about their consumers, they just want to be rich and powerful in this world. One of the companies is Procter and Gamble.
Please! Do not buy their products! It is like idolizing Satan and your soul will surely end up in hell! A proof that would see that their products are works of hell is to first, borrow a Safeguard Soap(or something...) wait until midnight, then in front of a mirror, hold the product, then light a candle. Look in the mirror in front of you and you will see a faint image of a horned being standing behind of you. This is true! If you don't believe it then you are discrediting the reputation of Phil Donahue and his show.
If you have already bought one of their products, you can remove the curse of Satan by doing this: Before you go to sleep, pray 1 Apostles Creed, 10 Hail Mary's and 1 Glory be. This is the most important! Go to your nearest photocopyer and produce 10 copies, send these copies to 10 persons before midnight, then burn this copy to release the final curse.
Sincerely,
Concerned Citizen
Yeah! What a nice dirty tactic to destroy the reputation of a company. Alright, I admit, I was a little ignorant back then that's why I followed these steps(not the ones that you have to be in front of the mirror, that was creepy). And yes, with the help of the internet, more and more chain letters are being distributed throughout the world. And now, I am launching my own campaign to stop this insanity!(and to show that I really regret the action that I have done against that company) Thanks to the internet also, whenever i receive these kind of mails, i just copy a part of the letter, maybe a phrase or a sentence, then search it on Google with the word "hoax" trailing. From there i can go to a site disproving the claims that resides in this junk. I simply copy the URL/address and send the link to the one who sent the hoax mail. And of course, I urge everyone to do the same to have peace and unity in the World Wide Web.
By the way, tomorrow I will be attending my 2nd christmas party in our company. I really don't feel excited about it, imagine this, You have to work 8am-5pm tomorrow, then the party will start at 6pm and will end at 9pm. Then you have to go to office again the next day! How fun is that!? anyways, I really enjoy being part of this company. Staying almost two years in an IT Company is rare nowadays. See Yah!
