Why OpenDNS has gone bad - see the sections on "Privacy issues and covert redirection" and "Conflicts" in en.wikipedia.org/.../OpenDNS. It has hijacked DNS-query-based Google searches. They have gone bad!

Windows XP users

- Open the Network Connection from the

Control Panel

- Right-click your Connection

- Select Properties

- Open TCP/IP

- Check "Obtain an IP address automatically"

- Use the following DNS Server address

- Preferred DNS Server 208.67.222.222

- Alternate DNS Server 208.67.220.220

Windows Vista users (like me)

- Open the Network and Internet from the

Control Panel

- Head over to Network and Sharing Center

- Open Manage network connections from

the side

- Right-click your Connection

- Select Properties

- Open Internet Protocol Version 4 TCP/IPv4

- Select Properties

- Check "Obtain an IP address automatically"

- Use the following DNS Server address

- Preferred DNS Server 208.67.222.222

- Alternate DNS Server 208.67.220.220

try using Opeen DSN (www.opendns.com)

Go to Control Panel

Open Network Connections

Right-click Local Area Connection and Select Properties

Under General Tab, Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) then click Properties

Choose "Obtain an IP address automatically"

then below choose "Use the following DSN server addresses"

Prefered DNS server : 208.67.222.222

Alternate DNS server: 208.67.220.220

click OK.

restart your browser. (internet Explorer/Mozilla Firefox)

Thats it! =P

I dont if its really just PLDT, some other DNS servers are also acting weird. Ours for example, just yesterday I cannot browse inq7 and some other sites.

thanks cruizer and dehran_ph (familiar usernames) for your comments!

this is my problem since last year. there are times that they will "fix" the problem, and my clients will be able to see their websites hosted by me. the problem lies when it goes "down" again, unabling my clients to see or edit their websites. they sometimes think that my server is down, which is not the main reason for such "downtime".

my gf suffered always with pldt vibe and those dialup promos of pldt. always "page cannot be displayed" or a message saying the url is not valid. maybe you are right they locked the market and then forget about it.

Kawawang mga home users na hindi masyado aware sa technical side ng dsl agreement.

i also experienced downtime with greendot (PT&T) but they're technical support is good. they just came here this mornig to check our connection.

it's funny because one time PLDT DSL seemed to be down i tried setting the DNS manually to globe's DNS servers, and they worked :P

i guess reliability is not a concern for PLDT when it comes to their servers, eh?

Its different here. Computer naman, I name it after a beer - The Main Server - Red Horse. then, san migstrong ice, sanmig lights, kaluah, miller, budweiser, etc. :)

heheh! i do something too.. i name my webapps using names that are memorable to me... the CMS that i built in ASP.NET was named Cembo, brgy in makati that i grew up to... my Linux/Windows servers on my VPC at home are called Baclaran (Ubuntu), Divisoria (Mandriva), Quiapo(Monnopix), Cubao (Windows XP) and Recto (Windows 2003 trial).

hehheh when i was in infocom our sysads set up servers named after LRT stations (wala pang MRT 3 nun!), like tayuman, monumento, baclaran, etc...
