What's Wrong with PLDT DNS?

Speaking of DNS names yesterday, I think it's high time for me to blog on this subject: PLDT DNS.

To those who are using MyDSL, PLDT ADSL, Smart WiFi: "Had you ever experienced (not down time, because it's a usual thing) not being able to browse to a particular website?"

Quite odd, but it is indeed happening. Some of their subscribers, including me, at times cannot view Google nor Yahoo! for no concrete reasons. When you call their "technical support" the only thing they will tell you is that they will look into the matter. After that, bye bye! See you on the next billing.

Why should Keith give me the Code Complete Book?

First of all, let me introduce myself properly:

I am Robert DC. Reyes. During daytime, I work at the airport here in Manila, Philippines. I do administrative, as well as some techie stuff. I had developed several, most of them involves database access interfaces so that our employees -- most of them are non-techie -- will not have much problems and doubts using computer systems.

After my daytime work, during weekdays (not everyday, actually), I teach multimedia arts to university kids in Taft Avenue. So far, with almost two (02) years of teaching in the university, I had handled subjects from Basic Computer to Interface Design for the web and multimedia. I had also taught Electronic Commerce and Office Multimedia. Though these subjects are not technical in nature, as the courses of my students are mostly Multimedia Arts, having the Code Complete Book will enable our Electronic Commerce Team of Faculty to eliminate the gap between the arts and computer science.

Lastly, I had just started with .Net this month. Starting the New Year right, huh? I intend to have my current MCP certification be upgraded to .Net before Summer of 2006.

That is why I hope, and pray that an autographed book be given to me. Thanks!

What's in a DNS Name?

Have nothing to do much, yet so I decided to create additional child nameservers to my first Linux server (used for webhosting). I had added bangkal [dot] turfsiteph [dot] net and bicutan [dot] turfsiteph [dot] net. Why bangkal and bicutan? These places are part of my life. I grew up in those places. As my little way of immortalizing fond memories in these places, they will be used in all of my clients' domains pretty soon.
